Hibiscus

The hibiscus, also referred to as "roselle" or "red sorrel," belongs to the Malvaceae family alongside hollyhock, okra, and cotton, with over 300 species.

The flower’s vibrant colours and its ability to bloom all year round represented fertility, rebirth, femininity, beauty and young love. It is commonly associated with the Hawaiian culture and the Aloha spirit, which celebrates love, happiness, and peace.

Thriving in warm, tropical, or subtropical climates with abundant sunlight, heat, and humidity, it's recognized for its vibrant blooms, reminiscent of tropical paradises.

These bold, delicate flowers have commonly been enjoyed for their decorative beauty and used in sacred devotional ceremonies.

The hibiscus flower also carries a soothing, purifying, and healing energy that makes it a precious and powerful herbal ally.

Originating from Angola, it's cultivated in various regions like Sudan, Egypt, Thailand, Mexico, and China.

With a rich history of medicinal and ceremonial use, hibiscus offers a range of health benefits, including promoting healthy hair growth, supporting clear skin, regulating body temperature, aiding kidney function, and supporting the female reproductive system.

High in vitamin C and bioflavonoids, it exhibits antioxidant properties and mild diuretic effects, benefiting blood pressure, digestion, and liver health. Historically, it's been employed to support menstruation, urinary health, and kidney function due to its natural affinity for the lower body region.

We love the beauty of Hibiscus, and we use this beautiful flower and its benefits in our Kombucha.
